Business Intelligence: Business Analysis & Project Management

Lingua Franca’s vision on business analysis for business intelligence

This diagram illustrates briefly our approach: we combine compelling drivers like competition and measurable goals like return on capital employed (ROCE) with C level management’s vision. You can consider all the links in the diagram as translation exercises. E.g. C-level management’s communication of the organisation’s goals with the business actors concerned and how this affects data and information management. Notice how the BA4BI is associated with a collaborative approach between what’s in the databases (e.g. the physical data models) and what’s in the minds of the business actors, i.e. the logical data model.

Lingua Franca’s vision on project management for business intelligence

The PM4BI is a pivotal role, optimizing the constraints from the major stakeholders and business actors: designers, source owners and folks like data stewards, data privacy officers, functional management, data analysts, data quality managers etc…

We believe a PM4BI can never be a “pure play” project manager. Profiles who only master PMI BOK or PRINCE2 will have serious trouble managing the conflicting interests of the parties concerned.
